Common ingredient will no longer cause pollution

Recommended Posts

Get ready for big changes in skin care products. As one of his last acts of 2015, President Obama signed a bill that bans an ingredient so common that nearly every American home has a product that includes it -- plastic microbeads.

Found in body washes, facial scrubs, and soaps that serve as skin exfoliants, these tiny beads do not break down as they wash down the drain and end up polluting waterways. Many companies have already begun the process of replacing plastic microbeads with natural, biodegradable ingredients such as apricot seeds, powdered pecan shells, and rice.
